Pharmacist Intern

Pharmacist Interns are required to submit a record of their Portfolio of Evidence activities on the online platform in accordance with the CPD cycle, comprising the following four steps:

• Step 1: Reflection on practice (Answers the questions – what do I need to know? What do I need to be able to do?)
• Step 2: Planning (Answers the question – How can I learn?)
• Step 3: Implementation (Describes the action taken)
• Step 4: Evaluation or reflection on learning (Answers the questions – What have I learnt? How is it benefiting my practice?)

Interns are required to -

• complete all four steps of the CPD cycle for each Portfolio of Evidence entry.
• submit six Portfolio of Evidence entries, one Portfolio of Evidence entry per Domain and be competent in all six Portfolio of Evidence entries submitted.
• submit suitable evidence online with each entry.
• Submit Portfolio of Evidence entry for similarity checks following completion of the 4 steps of the CPD cycle., as prompted by the system.
• adhere to the submission deadlines.

Once the intern has submitted Portfolio of Evidence entries, the system will allocate them to their tutor for verification and release for assessment and moderation by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).  Portfolio of Evidence entries results will be released by the SAPC in line with the approved 2026 Portfolio of Evidence submission schedule. Therefore, both interns and tutors must adhere to Portfolio of Evidence submission and verification deadlines. The deadlines for Portfolio of Evidence submissions are available in the 2026 Intern/Tutor Manual published on the website.
