Inspections
Types of inspections conducted by Council
Council conduct the following types of inspections:
- New inspections - an inspection conducted in all categories of pharmacy after the pharmacy has recorded its licence or in the case of manufacturing/wholesale, this inspection is conducted on receipt of an application for a license.
- Monitoring inspections - an inspection conducted in any of the categories of pharmacies, primary healthcare clinics or facilities approved by Council at the beginning of each year in line with the grading cycle.
- Training inspections - an inspection conducted in Community, Institutional, Manufacturing and Wholesale when a Responsible Pharmacist applies for permission to train Interns and or pharmacy support personnel.
- Disciplinary and follow-up inspections - an inspection conducted in any of the categories of pharmacies, primary healthcare clinics or facilities approved by Council as per requests from Council’s legal committees (CII and CPI).
- Re-inspections - an inspection conducted in any of the categories of pharmacies, primary healthcare clinics or facilities approved by Council as per requests from the pharmacy owner or responsible pharmacist. This inspection is performed at the request of a pharmacy owner or responsible pharmacist where the pharmacy failed to achieve Grade A compliance on the previous inspection.
