INSPECTION OFFICERS FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN PHARMACY COUNCIL (SAPC)

The SAPC hereby invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for Inspection Officer positions. An Inspection Officer is responsible for conducting pharmacy inspections in  various categories of pharmacy (Community, Institutional, Manufacturing, Wholesale, and Consultant). The positions are available in the following provinces:

  • Gauteng – 3;
  • North West – 1; and
  • Eastern Cape – 1 (Buffalo City Metro preferrable).

 

REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVICES: OFFICERS WILL BE REIMBURSED AS FOLLOWS:

The Inspection Officer will be reimbursed for performing each inspection on a prorated basis.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent;
  • be registered with SAPC as a pharmacist;
  • be compliant with CPD requirements;
  • have sound working knowledge of the Rules relating to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and other Pharmacy related legislation;
  • minimum of five years’ experience as a practising pharmacist; and
  • experience in both Manufacturing and Wholesale pharmacy would serve as a strong recommendation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To conduct the following types of inspections:

  • Monitoring inspections – for the purpose of monitoring compliance to Good Pharmacy Practice standards;
  • Training inspections – for the purpose of training interns and pharmacy support personnel;
  • New premises inspections – for the purpose of determining compliance to the GPP requirements relating to the licensing of a pharmacy;
  • Disciplinary inspections – for the purpose of investigating professional conduct complaints; and
  • Follow-up inspections – for the purpose of ensuring that corrective action has been implemented following disciplinary inspection or monitoring inspection.
